About Orange
Welcome to Wiradjuri Country
Yinaagalangbu, gibirbangbu, buraaygalangbu gawaymbanhadhu nginyalgir Wiradjurigu ngurambanggu. Ladies, gentlemen and children welcome to Wiradjuri and to Country.

Orange is arguably the most elegant of all the inland towns in New South Wales. It is characterised by beautiful tree-lined streets, charming houses dating back to the twentieth century, and lovely public parks. It is a substantial and sophisticated rural service centre in the heart of some of New South Wales' richest and most bountiful agricultural land. Orange is known for its excellent local produce, its impressive vineyards and its fine dining restaurants. There are 20 state primary and high schools, tertiary education including TAFE and Charles Sturt University, 3 pre-schools and 8 private schools. We have public and private hospital facilities and Orange is set to become a health hub for regional NSW.

In Orange you will experience the seasons, all four of them. If you love the outdoors you will be in heaven.
During Winter a stillness descends and the landscape rests, but Orange doesn't stop. We have frosty mornings and sprinklings of snow followed by bright sunshine filled days and crisp mountain fresh air. Winter is great for cooking and eating and sipping on red wine as we gather around the bonfire under starry crystal clear skies. Night time photography is amazing in Orange!

Springtime, Orange turns green and gold with the bud-burst of our parks and gardens. There is nothing quite like the brilliance of our canola fields illuminating the countryside. We enjoy warm days and cool nights, taking in the smells and sights of our region. During spring we celebrate our local cool-climate wines during the annual Orange Wine Festival.

In Summer, Mount Canobolas promises milder temperatures to alleviate the heat. It is also cherries, berries and stone fruit season. We have long and relaxed afternoons and balmy evenings and we experience a real rural Australian Summer. We celebrate The Banjo Paterson Australian Poetry Festival in Summer.

Autumn is the most beautiful of all seasons in Orange we arent called the colour city for nothing!
A rich tapestry of deep red, burnt orange and warm yellow colour the region, and the skies are the most beautiful of blue. Autumn is when we celebrate the harvest of our local produce during F.O.O.D (Food of Orange District) Week.
